CNC Machine Setter / Operator – Milling

Based at our premises in Daventry, and reporting to the Section Supervisor, you will be responsible for the quality of work undertaken and for reporting non-conformities when they occur.

We are looking for a highly skilled CNC Machine Setter / Operator able to set and operate our CNC lathes and VMC milling centre to perform precision machining operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Check job for measurements; submit for first-off, and ensure first-off is signed
  • Own the configuration of all supporting process elements including tooling, gauges, test equipment, work holding and CNC programmes.
  • Enhance efficiency by suggesting improvements to speed, and feed.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished products for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Carry out in-cycle inspection of the parts produced, using micrometres, verniers and coordinate measuring machine reports.
  • Multi manning when necessary to support the performance & utilisation of our resources when machinery and suitable product types enables you to do so.
  • Ensure good and professional communication is maintained with your opposite machinist or supervisor during shift handover.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace by ensuring a continuation of 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Systemise, Sustain).
  • Ensure health and safety compliance at all times.
  • Ensure accurate completion of paperwork in line with ISO9001 requirements.
  • Support other machinist to ensure machines are running to achieve size and surface quality with tool changes as necessary.
  • Work as part of a strong team, willing to fulfil other tasks and additional duties when requested

 

We are looking for someone who is highly capable in machine tool and cutting tool specification and application, who understands and has the ability to interpret technical drawings and specification. You will also have knowledge of precision engineering process, including general machining (milling and turning). You will have proven knowledge of working to schedules and the ability to plan personal workloads.

 

Ideally you will have a background in working in an environment where attention to detail is important, and prior experience of using measuring equipment and use of FANUC and Heidenhain controls is a key requirement, and for milling be able to set and operate our Hardinge Bridgepot milling centres, for turning, able to set and operate our Hardinge lathes.
